Dear Margaret & Dooley,

I’m able to tell you that I’m now ‘somewhere in Iceland’ waiting for some of this Artic weather to blow over, so I can get to where I’m going.

They have the bleakest, nastiest weather here that I have ever experienced. I don’t want to ever be based here permanently. Incidentally, everything turned out as I expected it to be in regard to my own airplane. I’ll write more about that later.

When I first got here I had a sore throat which developed into a chest cold. Now that has become a head cold. I can’t find a doctor on this island so I’ve been doctoring myself.

I got to see Marlene Dietrich at the base theater last night. She’s a nice looking grandmother.
